How to take a seat?

Click on “Sponsor a seat”. Using the seating plan, you can choose your preferred seat and support the unique music theatre at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden with your sponsorship. You can personalize your chair with a name plaque. Of course, you can also dedicate your sponsorship to an opera fan in your family or circle of friends.


If you would prefer to select your sponsored chair in a personal meeting, please contact us by telephone on +49 (0)30 20 35 47 00. We are available from Monday to Thursday from 11 am to 5 pm and on Fridays from 11 am to 2 pm. Alternatively, you can send us the order form by e-mail or post to complete the sponsorship for your desired place.

You can also dedicate a seat to an opera enthusiast among your family or friends. If a couple or family would like to sponsor several seats, we will grant you a reduction of 25 % from the second seat on.

The chair in detail

The audience chairs in the Staatsoper Unter den Linden were designed according to historical models, taking into account modern ergonomic and acoustic requirements.

  1. Improvement of the legroom by slightly increased row spacing and shortening the backrest in the lower section
  2. Improvement of the seating comfort by slightly optimizing the seat width
  3. Improvement of the seating comfort by using high-quality, permanently elastic foam in the seat area in combination with a spring core
  4. Improvement of the seating comfort thanks to the improved, ergonomic shape of the backrest and the upward extension of the backrest in the parquet; two-dimensional curvature of the backrest shell
  5. Support of the acoustics in the auditorium through acoustic optimization of the seating upholstery
  6. Use of an easily detachable but secure chair attachment in conjunction with the individual chair concept ensures short conversion times and flexible adjustment of chair groups for special events such as balls
  7. Use of a top-quality upholstery fabric (for seat and backrest upholstery) based on the original seating
